In a beautiful garden filled with colorful flowers and a sparkling pond, there lived a young peacock named Penny. She had the most magnificent feathers anyone had ever seen!

'Look at my beautiful tail!' Penny would say, strutting around the garden. 'No one has feathers as pretty as mine!' The other birds would watch as she twirled and danced, showing off her colors.

'Your brown feathers are so boring,' Penny told the sparrows. 'And you're so tiny,' she laughed at the finches. Even when Robin Redbreast showed her his bright red chest, Penny just yawned.

Mama Peacock saw this and shook her head. 'Penny, dear,' she said softly, 'being beautiful isn't just about how you look.'

One sunny morning, Penny spotted the most delicious-looking berries high up in a bush. She tried and tried, but she couldn't reach them.

'Could someone help me?' Penny called out. But the birds she had been unkind to just flew away. Only Robin Redbreast stayed behind.

'I'll help you,' said Robin, 'but first, let's talk about being a good friend.'

Robin explained to Penny that true beauty comes from being kind and helpful to others. Penny thought about how she had treated everyone.

'I'm sorry,' she said to all the birds. 'Can we be friends?'

The birds forgave Penny, and together they helped her reach the berries. From that day on, Penny was known not just for her beautiful feathers, but for her beautiful heart too.
