One sunny Saturday morning, Sophie was playing in her garden when she heard a tiny 'meow.' Behind the flowers, she found a small gray kitten with the most beautiful blue eyes she had ever seen.
'Hello there,' Sophie said softly. 'Are you lost?' The kitten looked up at her and meowed again. Sophie's curly red hair bounced as she knelt down to pet him.
Sophie brought the kitten inside and gave him some milk and tuna. 'I'll call you Mr. Whiskers for now,' she said, watching him eat. 'But we need to find your real home.'
Mr. Whiskers purred happily as Sophie gently stroked his soft gray fur. 'Don't worry,' she promised. 'I'll help you find your family.'
Sophie and Mr. Whiskers went from house to house in their colorful neighborhood. They met many friendly neighbors, but no one recognized the little gray kitten.
'We won't give up,' Sophie told Mr. Whiskers, who stayed close by her side. They walked past pretty gardens filled with bright flowers, asking everyone they met.
Finally, they reached a blue house with yellow flowers. An elderly lady was in the garden, looking worried.
'Mrs. Thompson!' Sophie called out. 'Are you looking for something?'
'My dear kitten,' Mrs. Thompson replied. 'He's been missing since...' Before she could finish, Mr. Whiskers jumped forward with a happy meow.
'Snowball!' Mrs. Thompson cried joyfully, scooping up the kitten. 'Thank you, Sophie! Would you like to come in for cookies and milk?'
Sophie smiled brightly. She had helped Mr. Whiskers find his home and made a wonderful new friend too.
