Deep in the colorful autumn forest lived a small squirrel named Pip. He loved collecting acorns more than anything else in the world! Every day, Pip would scurry around, gathering more and more acorns.
'Just one more!' Pip would say, his tiny paws already full. 'Maybe two more!' He'd giggle, stuffing his cheeks with acorns until they were round as apples.
Soon, Pip's tree house was so full of acorns that he could barely move! He couldn't invite friends over to play anymore.
'But what if I need them all?' Pip wondered, trying to squeeze through his doorway past piles of acorns.
His forest friends would call out, 'Come play with us, Pip!' But he was always too busy collecting more acorns to join them.
One evening, Wise Old Owl noticed Pip struggling with his overflowing collection.
'Dear Pip,' she hooted softly, 'having more than you need isn't as wonderful as having friends to share with.'
Pip looked at his mountain of acorns, then at the lonely path where his friends used to visit. 'But what should I do?' he asked.
Wise Old Owl suggested having a sharing party. Pip invited all the forest animals who hadn't found enough food for winter.
Rabbits, mice, and chipmunks came to share Pip's acorns. They told stories and laughed together. Pip's heart felt warmer than ever before.
'This is much better than counting acorns alone,' Pip realized, smiling at his new friends.
From that day on, Pip kept only the acorns he needed. He spent more time playing games, sharing stories, and helping others.
Every evening, you could hear happy laughs coming from Pip's tree house, where friends gathered to share treats and friendship.
And Pip discovered that the best thing to collect wasn't acorns at all - it was wonderful memories with friends!
